MONEY MATTERS

What does the Bible say about giving? - Malachi 3:8-18
- It is an act of worship. The Bible clearly tells us that all we possess comes from Him. Therefore, by giving back to Him what He commands us, we give back to Him what He has simply entrusted to us. By giving our tithes and offerings, we worship Him by demonstrating the fact that He is our True Provider and that we are dependent on Him.
- It demonstrates our faithfulness. We are found to be faithful to God when we demonstrate the discipline in our lives to obey Him. Malachi 3:10 tells us that the "tithe" or the first tenth of all that God has entrusted to us is a "gift" back to Him.
- Your TITHE is your "first fruits", Malachi 3:10, and by definition ten percent of your income. Your tithe should be given to the general budget of your local church to help fund the programming, personnel, and overhead costs associated with reaching your church's vision.
- An OFFERING is any money you give over and above your tithe as a result of the Lord's prompting. From time to time, the Lord may ask you to give an offering to missions, to help pay down the building note, or to some other kingdom endeavor.
What are the ways you can give?
NEHBC provides several avenues for financial contributions. First, you may place money in the green bag during any of the offering times in any of our four weekly worship services. A second option is to place your tithe or offering in the drop boxes located on the wall in the church lobby. A third option is by stopping by our Giving Center in the church lobby. Finally, you can give online. You may give online and at our Giving Center in one of the following ways:
-
Scheduled, regular giving by direct withdrawal from your checking/savings account (bank draft)
-
Debit/Credit Card
-
One-time designated gifts via a bank account or debit/credit card.
What are the benefits of giving online?
- You can make giving a priority in your monthly budget. Proverbs 3:9-10 tells us to honor God with the "first" of all He gives us. That means that we give back to Him our tithe first and not with whatever is left over. It is easy to let our standards and intentions slip due to the expenses and bills in our lives.
- You can increase your faithfulness. Have you ever forgotten your tithe or offering, left it at home? Have you ever had times where you have fallen behind because of travel or other schedule interruptions? Giving online gives you an opportunity to consistently increase your faithfulness to God.
- You can help NEHBC. Through online giving, your tithes and offerings go directly to the bank simplifying our accounting and strengthening our base of regular contributions.
- You can encourage faith and faithfulness in the lives of fellow believers. As you plan and make giving a priority, you will lead the way for others to grow and mature in this form of worshipping God. You are a living a testimony and example for others to follow.
