Evangelism is one of the three pillars of our church.  NEHBC is driven by evangelism, governed by the Bible, and sustained through prayer.  Below, you will find the different components of our evangelism strategy.

NEHBC's Acts 1:8 Mission Center

This is the hub of NEHBC's missions resourcing and training.  Here you can get information on all of our partnerships and get involved in our evangelism and missions endeavors.  The Mission Center is located just off the lobby.

Baptism

According to Matthew 28:18-20, the two identifying marks of a follower of Jesus Christ are New Testament baptism and placing oneself under biblical teaching.  Therefore, soon after surrendering one's life to Christ, one should be baptized.

For information regarding methods of baptism or to sign up to be baptized contact Sonny Hathaway at shathaway@nehbc.com, or call the church office at 281-812-8688, x209 to set up an appointment.

NEHBC Evangelism Strategy - Acts 1:8

". . .and you will be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."
Acts 1:8

When Jesus Christ said these words to His followers, He was instructing them to carry the message of God's plan of salvation beginning locally and throughout the whole world.  We are committed as a church to carrying that message to Houston and beyond!

Sunday Night Visitation

On the first Sunday of each month, we go door to door in teams from 5:00pm - 6:00pm just as believers did in the book of Acts.  When you come to the church at 5pm, you will be placed on a team with an experienced person who has gone out before.  We follow up with those who have visited our church as well as new people to the community.

Street Captains

We believe in the sovereignty of God which eliminates any possibility of chance or coincidence.  Therefore, you have strategically been placed in your home by God for Kingdom work.  As a result, each January we ask our family units to adopt their street or apartment building for the year.  The commitment is two-fold: First, we ask each of our street captains to prayer walk their street or their apartment building once a month.  Secondly, five times a year you will be asked to place a church provided invitation to NEHBC on each door.

Community-Wide Blitzes

Periodically, throughout the year we will have a community-wide evangelistic blitz canvassing neighborhoods with materials.  You will receive a copy of a map with a couple of highlighted streets and a stack of church provided invitations to NEHBC.  Our families go out and put these invitations on the doors of the streets to which they are assigned.  We will often canvas multiple subdivisions in one hour.  This is a tremendous opportunity for parents to mentor their children in evangelism.

Evangelism Tools and Training

Tools - Tracts and NEHBC invite cards are always made available free of charge in the church lobby.  Those that attend NEHBC are strongly encouraged to hand out tracts and invite cards as opportunities arise.
Training - Twice a year a four week evangelism training class is offered during CLU.
