PREPARING FOR TOMORROW
On June 3rd, 2006, the NEHBC family approved the master and "next phase" plans for the expansion of our campus. God has blessed us with leadership to develop these plans and ample property (30 acres) to pursue the expansion of His Kingdom here on West Lake Houston Parkway. The "next phase" construction has been designed and construction documents are completed. The NEHBC family is ready to move forward with this construction pending God's provision of funds. Contributions to the building fund can be made on-line or by check. Click here to give.
To better understand the urgency and need for this expansion. Pastor Nathan describes our history, needs, and planning process for the master plan below:
In April of 2003, the doors opened at NEHBC's current facility. There was much rejoicing as we celebrated the 35,000 square foot tool God provided us to make disciples. Never did we think that after four short years our building would be inadequate for all that God is doing in and through us. But amazingly we are already in need of a bigger facility.
Not only is our current facility too small for our current congregation, but we are woefully unprepared to reach the coming masses. Demographic projections anticipate over 27,000 new family units moving to our immediate area in the next 10 years. At an average of 3.3 family members per home that is almost 100, 000 new people moving to our vicinity. Humble ISD anticipates opening one new elementary school every year for the next nine years. Humble ISD's three 5-A High Schools cannot handle the coming growth, so Atascocita High School opened in 2008 and Summercreek High School will open in 2009. Plans are already being drawn for the expansion of West Lake Houston Parkway as well as FM 1960 to handle traffic flow. We are unprepared to reach the coming masses.
Over several months our trustees met with Paul Lodholz of Zeigler-Cooper Architects to design a proposed master plan. A master plan is merely today's guess at tomorrow's ministry. Several factors were taken into consideration: the ability to cater to 3,000 people on a Sunday morning; a desire to offer two worship Sunday morning worship services to provide the community with worship time options; a conference and event center to offer marriage and parenting conferences; and facilities for evangelism and Bible teaching.
The following are pictures of the master plan:
