2009 Mission Trips: 2009 Mission Trips

2009 MISSION TRIPS

". . .and you will be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."
Acts 1:8

When Jesus Christ said these words to His followers, He was instructing them to carry the message of God's plan of salvation beginning locally and throughout the whole world.  We are committed as a church to carrying that message to Houston and beyond!

Thailand: September 4th - 12th

The purpose of this trip will be mass distribution of Gospel materials including Bibles to Chinese tourists on vacation in southern Thailand.  This trip is part of a large project by our IMB called Southern Cross.  The country of China is closed to the Gospel within her borders.  However, the beaches of Thailand have become a very popular vacation destination for the Chinese.  The IMB therefore maintains a massive, ongoing effort throughout the year to evangelize the many Chinese who are spending their holiday at the beaches in Thailand.  IMB personnel in Thailand organize the efforts, and Southern Baptist churches send teams to distribute thousands of Chinese Bibles and Gospel tracts to these Chinese vacationers.  This trip will also be unique in that while there will be efforts to reach the Chinese opportunities will present themselves to share the Gospel with the Thai people.  This will be our second trip to Thailand.
