2010 Mission Opportunities

Love Our City
Star of Hope's Women and Family Emergency Shelter (downtown Houston)
Star of Hope is a large self-contained inner city mission that can house 400 women and children and includes a counseling center, school, tutoring for teens, trade school for women, clothing closet, cafeteria, hair salon, etc. In conjunction with the mission staff at the mission, 2-3 saturdays will be scheduled to tackle large projects.
Hunger Relief Ministry
The long term goal for NEHBC is to develop a hunger relief ministry. Several times throughout 2010, this ministry will provide opportunities to provide hunger relief in several of Houston's wards.
Farrington Mission (Houston's 5th Ward)
In conjunction with the Farrington mission staff, several opportunities will be provided to engage in reaching the 5th Ward with the gospel. Several men from NEHBC have committed to run a weekly, evening basketball league at Farrington for the purpose of mentoring young men.
Lone Star Motorcycle Rally (November 4th-7th, 2010)
Each year thousands descend on Galveston for the annual Lone star Motorcycle Rally. We will be making day trips down to the rally with the Hell Fighters for the purpose of engaging in street evangelism.
Love The World
New Orleans/Mardi Gras
February 13 - 15
During the week of the Mardi Gras festivities almost one million people journey to New Orleans. The team will pass out tracts and engage people with gospel message during the many parades and evening activities down in the famous French Quarter. This trip will be the fourth time a team has traveled to one of America's largest people centers.
Estonia (Teens)
March 12 - 20
This trip is offered over spring break week. Teens will work alongside Tom and Jennifer Thompson to carry out several big events and strategies to reach Estonians with the gospel. This is the second time NEHBC teenagers have traveled to Estonia.
Lisbon, Portugal
May 1 - 8
The team on this trip will use a variety of evangelistic methods. These include conducting American football clinics, business seminars hosted by men with a business degree, evangelistic blitzing, and prayer walking.
Southlake, Texas (Teens)
June 14 - 19
Offered for teenagers, this trip will encompass a variety of methods for evangelism including tract distribution, canvassing of local neighborhoods, and prayer walking.
Oklahoma Indian Reservation (Teens)
July 12 - 19
This team will work with Hallelujah Church outside of Tulsa, teaching VBS, doing door to door evangelism, and minor repairs on the church building. This church is a cross cultural church but there is a large community of Native Americans (both Navaho & Cherokee) unreached in their area that will be the team's focus.
Sturgis, South Dakota Motorcycle Rally
August 6 - 13
One million people from all over the country come to the picturesque region of Sturgis, South Dakota for one of the largest motorcycle rallies in the world. This team will team up with Hell Fighters to share the love of Jesus Christ in practical ways all along attempting to share the gospel message. This will be NEHBC's second trip to Sturgis.

Moscow, Russia
September 10 - 18
Working alongside missionaries in Moscow, Russia, this team will work to reach Russians with the gospel message.
Thessaloniki, Greece I
September 24 - October 2
The door has opened to reach the country of Greece. This trip will consist of reaching a section of the city of Thessaloniki that contains a population of around 400,000 people with the gospel message. This section of the city has no gospel witness or evangelical church. NEHBC has partnered with Faith Family Baptist Church to adopt and begin working in this area with the hopes of planting a local church. Teams will be sent to prayer walk, carry out door to door witnessing and conduct surveys. This trip will be the first of many trips to come in the future.
Thessaloniki, Greece II
October 22 - 30
